I have spatial and dimension problems. There, I said it. Give me anything that needs to be measured and I haven’t got a clue. This has been proven time and time again with bike racks that arrive 3 times as long as I anticipated, dining cabinets that look like they have been made for Snow White’s Dwarves, and no capacity to see anything as level. The last point is not such a big issue…….except when you want dead flat level cakes and continue to cut the top away to “level” and seem to be left with very little but crumbs.
Wilton Bake Even Cake Strips take the guess work out of dead level cakes that are perfect for stacking!
I have to admit that I was skeptical when I opened the package. Two fabric strips? Really? So I poured the batter into the pans, completely wet the strips as indicated and wrapped them around the baking pans before popping into the oven.
I had to eat my words and skepticism…..but I did not have to eat any “leveling” cake that invariable ends up in my mouth rather than in the bin. These cakes came out of the oven as level as my eye would see and made stacking for a special Birthday as easy as 1-2-3!
No fuss, no waste, and no frustration in my lack of skill.
A layer of icing, stack, finish icing, wrap in gluten free Dr Schar style Kit Kats and a ribbon, top with gluten free m&m’s and you have a beautiful Birthday cake for a serious Kit Kat lover!
I love these strips so much I’m giving a set away! Just comment below on your best or worst cake leveling experience and one random winner will be chosen on Tuesday 1 October! Good luck and share your story (and photo if you have it!)
Wilton Bake Even Cake Strips – 9/10 Easy As level cakes…..the only thing I don’t like is the lack of closure mechanism leaving me scrambling for safety pins.
