Road Test Tuesday – PureBred Hot Cross Buns

Lenten update ~ Today I am grateful for day/night cold tablets!  I refuse to go down :)

GUYS, THERE ARE ONLY 2 DAYS LEFT TO ENTER THE CUISINART ICE CREAM MAKER COMP!

*see below

Hot Cross Buns are a tradition here in Oz and, although I’m sure they were around in the US when I was growing up, I was too enamoured with the all day chocolate egg extravaganza don’t recall seeing them or even hearing about them. However, you can’t miss them here, particularly since they seem to have been in the shops since New Years!

Last year I was so happy that my local gluten free patisserie made some outstanding hot cross buns which were soft and fruity but they lacked the crispy top and crunch in the cross that I have grown to love so much. Plus, they were pricey little treats and only available in packs of 6 which, while tempting, were not eaten.

So I was really happy to see that my newest favourite bread provider has traditional hot cross buns available at a reasonable price and in packs of 4 at Coles supermarkets. An Easter treat can now be enjoyed by all!
